The 11th China Patent Awards declared 15 Gold and 170 Excellence award winners in Beijing on February 1st. The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) held a grand ceremony in Beijing, where Tian Lipu, Head of SIPO and other leaders gave awards to the winners.
China Patent Awards were granted to the award-winning patent right holders by the SIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) together. China Patent Awards officially declared and given included 15 Gold awards and 170 Excellence awards, which were given to a total number of 185 patents. It was reported that Shenzhen was the biggest winner by having grabbed 2 Golds and 10 Excellences. Trony Solar Holdings was given an Excellence award for its patent of “The Solar PV Insulated Glass and Its Production Method”.
Over the recent years Shenzhen has become an aggressive competitor to some of China’s leading patent producing cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Since 2005, the number of patent and invention applications of Shenzhen has been included in the top 3 among the major Chinese cities. Last year a breakthrough was made by Shenzhen which applied total 42,279 patents, recording a year-on-year growth by 16.63% and filed more than 20,000 invention patents for the first time.
